The Bible is quite clear that God does have a chosen people and it is Jacobs offspring.

The is some debate among those of us in the "Europeans are the Israelites" community as to whether or not other races can be saved, especially the edomites; but I am of the opinion that they can be based on Christ's actions w the edomite woman and via the host of great Christians historically that were from other groups.
That said, however, it does appear VERY MUCH more difficult for edomites to truly convert.

There seemed to be a REAL reluctance to accept that the so-called jews are edomites.

This puzzles me.

Also, since I am a lesser part Edomite myself(according to DNA tests), I don't understand the worry of an accurate accounting of who/what we are.

But I disagree about what you said concerning the irrelevance of the genealogy segment; there are dispensationalist theologies like "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth" that tell Gentiles that we should not read anything after Paul's epistles Romans to Philemon, that everything after that, including Revelations, is strictly for Jewish consumption. What? Jews like Sarah Silverman? So if I, a Gentile, convert to Judaism (which is frowned upon, it's not really accepted) and then accept Christ, then I can read the letters Peter wrote? Yet I know adult Christian people, good people, who believe stuff like this. I guess God's infinite grace and mercy isn't complicated enough for them; people always feel a need to revert to legalism because it seems more cut and dry, more secure.
